Quote, sign and take the deposit in the same visit

Toro Solar is quoting software we built for Australian solar and battery installers, alongside a working Sydney installer. Pricing, rebates, the proposal and the rules all come from one job entry, so reps can quote on the spot.

The challenge

A busy solar and battery installer in Sydney had the same problem many installers have. Selling was fast. The paperwork wasn’t.

Every job was typed up more than once: the design in one tool, the quote in another, then the proposal built by hand. Rebates were worked out manually, and someone in the office had to keep an eye on every change to federal and state schemes. When a rebate changed, there was a real risk of a customer receiving a quote with the wrong number on it.

The quoting tools on the market didn’t fit well either. Some were built for the US, with Australian rebates set up by hand and pricing in US dollars per seat. Others were free but came with no one to call when something went wrong.

What we did

We built Toro Solar: one system that sits in the middle of every job, designed around the installer’s real quotes.

  • Enter the job once. Customer, roof and hardware details flow straight from the design into the quote. No re-typing into three systems.
  • Rebates priced for you. Federal STCs (the main solar rebate) and state battery programs are applied automatically. Every value has a start date and a source, so the team can see where each number came from.
  • Rules kept current. When a scheme changes, the new rule applies from its own date. Quotes already sent stay exactly as they were sent.
  • Pricing the owner controls. Costs, margins, discounts and tax schemes are set by postcode. Reps see the price, never the cost or margin.
  • Honest battery numbers. Savings come from an hour-by-hour simulation using the customer’s own power usage, not a flat estimate.
  • Proposals in the installer’s brand. The proposal is generated from the quote, so the numbers can’t disagree. Several options sit side by side, so the customer can pick good, better or best.
  • Connects to their other tools. A simple API lets other systems create quotes. The installer keeps their CRM, accounting package, suppliers and install scheduling as they are.

We worked directly with the installer’s sales team the whole way. When they asked for a change, it was usually live within days.

The result

Reps now size the system, price it and show the customer a branded proposal during the same visit, with the rebates already applied and the margin protected. The aim is simple: same visit, same signature, deposit taken.

Nobody in the office has to watch the rebate schemes any more. That’s built into the system. Getting a new rep started is a call, not a project: their catalogue, margins and branding are loaded once, and they can quote a live job on day one.

Toro Solar is now available to other Australian solar and battery installers at torosolar.app.
